Ages 11 to 13 (rising 6th-8th graders)
Run a hovercraft on the floor, then show off your coding skills by delivering packages! Discover how to customize an app with coding, convert it to a drone, and learn to fly! This entry level drone is versatile, easy to use inside in a gym, hallway, or any room with high ceilings. It is made of modular parts that snap together with magnets. While learning to fly, if it runs into the wall or something, it just breaks apart and then snaps right back together.
In this course you will:
- Create custom control apps with Scratch coding.
- Complete challenges as you control the AirBlock.
- Learn how programs work and what code does.
- Develop logical thinking and engineering design skills.
Fun Coding and Flight Activities
The coding lessons make it easy to learn block based code. Create your own custom control app that can be used to fly the drone, operate a hovercraft, and compete in challenges - such as package delivery.
You will...
- Control the motors in each propeller to turn faster or slower.
- Create your own air tricks by making custom loops and turns in the air.
- Flash custom light patterns, and
- Configure the Airblock as a Jet Car and have races!
There is lots of fun to be had in coding Airblock while you learn about flight, physics, and engineering concepts.
This modular kit can be assembled as a Drone, as a Hovercraft, as a Jetcar. The multiple configurations are magnetically held together and snap together in seconds. The Airblock is made of a rugged type of Styrofoam with the mechanical parts tucked safely inside, making it safe to use and easy to sanitize.
